Case Update

Recently, my case was moved into the federal court. My lawyers have filed a federal Habeas Corpus on my behalf to challenge illegal rulings made by the state courts in past efforts to gain my freedom. The filing, requesting a review of past rulings by the state courts and a new trial, is based on the fact that I did not receive a fair trial in accordance with both the 6th and the 14th Amendments. The federal judge gave the State Attorney General's office until July 11th (now past -- follow-up forthcoming) to respond to the petition. The federal court may accept or deny the filing and I will have a chance to appeal any adverse decision. This is the time when we must write to both the local newspapers and our congressional representatives to re-open the whole issue of COINTELPRO. My case like Geronimo Pratt's was part of the FBI's "dirty tricks" effort against the Black Activist Movement. Many of these cases are now being looked at again; Dr. King's, Mumia's, Geronimo's and others are being re-examined for racial disparity and FBI illegal involvement. We must expose the truth about the connection between today's political prisoners and yesterday's COINTELPRO "dirty tricks". Letters will bring this issue to the public's attention. And the public's knowledge of our plight will help all political prisoners and prisoners of war around the country.
